The episode opens with more dire news. Rush and the science team inform Col. Young that because the ship is in such bad shape and disrepair that power is going to run short before they make it across the expanse.
This means they’ll be stranded between galaxies in dead empty space. The Destiny will continue to coast but their bones will be the only thing left once they get into the next galaxy. Dr. Rush estimates they’ll be 50,000 light years short.
So they got big problems but there is a sigh of relief that they have Greer back.
Young calls a big assembly of all the crew. Right before he’s about to go TJ is wanting to tell him that she’s pregnant. But he gets a call from Rush’s so she delays once again.
He goes into the gate room and tells them that rationing is back on as they attempt to make the expanse across the galaxies.
The ship is on high alert.
Fairly early on in the episode the title of Sabotage becomes very clear. As they’re going along in FTL hyperspace there’s an explosion at the back of the ship. Rush looks at the computers and finds out that one of the hyper drives has exploded. The use their communication stones to bring on a hyperdrive expert.
The team had put forward a theory which Rush agreed with that they could make the FTL drives more efficient with the power they have. Since they can’t get any more power if they can make them more efficient they might be able across the expanse.
The good news is they’re only going to fall short by about 5% to 6%. So if they could increase the efficiency by that much they would make it across and into the next galaxy.
Obviously when the FTL drive exploded the Destiny came out of hyperspace.
Almost immediately there’s an unexpected wormhole which causes the gate to be activated. We see the return of Chloe, Eli, and Lieut. Scott. The explosion was fortuitous for them because the Destiny was still in range and so they were able to lock on to the wormhole this time.
But there is still much work to be done and they have some time to do so.
They’re also unsure still even with the modifications whether they’ll be able to cross the expanse. As a backup plan Col. Young says they should explore the planet again because they might have to stay there for a very long time. They send to the kino through.
Eli wonders why they’re doing it but the moment the keno goes through it starts getting shot at by those alien ships.
So they know the aliens are onto them and will be attacking shortly.
They come to find out that Lieut. James blackout when the FTL came out of hyperspace was due to being connected to the stones. They theorize that the aliens have again hacked in and caused her to sabotage the ship. She doesn’t know whether she sent them her signal or whether they know where the ship is.
But they have to assume the aliens do know the location of the Destiny and are on their way.
They prepare for an attack knowing there’s nowhere near enough power for the ships shileds to hold. They feel like they’ll be boarded and it has a very Alamo type of feel to it. Only there’s not going to be 13 days it may be only 13 minutes.
But they’re determined to fight to the death and make their last stand.
As a last resort Col. Young is going to get into the chair to attempt to tell the ship directly to bypass the one damaged FTL drive and jump into hyperspace. Instead the injured doctor comes around and says he should be put in the chair.
They agreed to let him do it. He succeeds in bypassing and jumping them into hyperspace.
When Col. Young goes to check on the doctor in the chair room he opens the door and no one is there. So the mystery begins for next week. What happened to the doctor? Where did he go? How did he get out of the room without the door opening?
