Sliders “The Other Slide of Darkness” – Season 3 Episode 21

The Sliders land in this world of poisonous fog and can’t breathe. Except Maggie who can. It’s a reversal of the misfortune which struck Maggie on Quinn’s home world where she couldn’t breathe but he could.
Now the original 3 are the ones with breathing problems while Maggie seems to be breathing just fine.
They get out of the fog and end up finding the local village. There’s this guy hassling them about having their women and teaching them better manners. Then there’s this weird blind girl who reads tarot cards who calls them over.
They are hot on Rickman’s trail because they can see that he has not yet slid out of this world. When they investigate a little bit more of the town they see some medical records that are pretty rudimentary. And Quinn ends up finding Rickman’s microchip which has been completely fried.
So they now know Rickman is trapped but they only have a little under three days to deal with him before they have to slide out of there.
The girl Aidra who is a blind seer says that she will only help them if they will come see what they can do for Lucy. Lucy has been the latest victim of Rickman and has the puncture wound in the back of her neck to prove it. She has been in a coma and so Quinn says there’s not much they can do for her.
Aidra keeps having these weird dreams involving Quinn but actually it is his double. She says if Quinn goes into the fog he will die and never come out.
But obviously you know they’re going to have to go back into the fog because that’s where Rickman is. Their whole mission is to get back at Rickman ending his disgusting and murderous ways.
They find out Lucy’s father has this witch’s butter which is kind of like moonshine. If they drink it even though it tastes very horrible it will allow them to go through the fog and make it to the village that is on the other side of the fog up the mountain. This is where the fog people live and where they must go to get back their friends.
Beforehand Quinn and Maggie had already gone in chasing after Rickman. He had captured them and taken them to the village.
This is where Quinn comes face-to-face with the double he first saw before he made his first slide. This is his double who had already done eight slides before he had even done one. The same guy who completed the equation for him.
Only he’s radically different and totally jaded now. They have a little discussion and he tells Quinn how he gave the Kromags the equation and he is responsible for them devastating worlds. He also laments that because they got his home coordinates his wife and child along with the rest of their world was killed.
Quinn gets to see the haunting reality of what he would be like without his friends sliding with him.
This other Quinn wants him to end his life. He doesn’t believe he should be allowed to move on. So Quinn is faced with a choice of either killing his double or his double orders Maggie to be killed by the villagers.
Rembrandt and Wade come onto the scene right there. Quinn is in a fistfight with his double and says that he won’t kill him.
He gains the upper hand and then runs out of the cave and opens a vortex. He, Rembrandt, Wade and Maggie jumped into the vortex after Rickman.
How did Rickman get off this world? Quinn’s double had a deal with Rickman. If he would bring the other Quinn to the village he would fix Rickman’s timer. He knows Rickman’s a killer but he says, “A deal’s a deal.”
We can see just how far gone the other Quinn is and how our hero might have ended up.
