Sliders “Slither” – Season 3 Episode 22

Slither was an interesting episode because I’ve always been a fan of snakes. The episode opens with Quinn and Rembrandt arguing in a little airport. Rembrandt says, “I’ve had about enough of third world charm to last for 100 slides.”
Apparently they have been on vacation together in this drug cartel world and the small little airport books 60 reservations for 20 seat plane. This doesn’t sit well with them because the next flight will be a week from Wednesday which is a week after they are scheduled to slide.
So obviously that will not work for them. They ask about any charter planes and one airport security worker overhears them. He says there’s only one and it’s heading out right now.
The mad dash is on to see if they can secure a place on the small charter plane.
As they’re talking with the girl about hitching a ride with her on her airplane guys with guns come out and start shooting at them. Quinn and Rembrandt don’t know what’s going on but the look on the girl’s face indicates she seems to. They grab the box and jump onto the plane with her.
It’s amazing how things change from a no to a yes when you provide some help to someone and you’re being shot at.
They come to find out there’s some very rare snakes in these boxes and one of the bullets had hit the lock on one of the boxes. So as you can predict one of the snakes gets out and starts to cause havoc. But it’s not like the movie Snakes On a Plane with Samuel L. Jackson. This snake is far more insidious.
It doesn’t mess with the passengers in the back it goes right for the pilot upfront and ends up killing him. The plane goes down and Quinn and Rembrandt are in real trouble.
Meanwhile Maggie and Wade have been back at the San Fransisco airport expecting their friends. But Wade talks to someone who works at the airport and finds out that they had to get on a charter plane but that it never made it to San Franscisco airport so they begin to worry.
They meet up with this shady guy who informs them that the plane went down because he just talked to the lady who took the Mayday call.
So they agree to ride with this guy Carlos to search for their friends.
Carlos has just killed a guy that attempted to doublecross him. So they go off trekking into the jungle in their truck.
During the journey the truck starts to overheat and they stop. Maggie goes down to splash some water on her to cool down and Carlos pulls his gun and starts shooting. There was a snake that was in the water that he was shooting which was about to get Maggie.
The Carlos true colors would come out later on in the episode. Wade finds out who he is and attempts to call the police but Carlos is right there to rip the phone cord out and threaten her life. But Maggie smashes him on the back of the head.
Meanwhile Quinn and Rembrandt are still attempting to get to San Francisco and they’re carrying this one snake which is still in captivity with them. But amazingly the snakes mate is following them and calling a lot of other snakes to help in the pursuit.
We’re nearing the end of the episode and they find themselves holed up in this old house that is just over run with snakes. Finally, Carlos busts in and the confrontation is set. They get the upper hand on him and knock him down.
This free snake wraps itself around Carlos and kills him.
The Sliders set the other snake free and then all of the snakes just start to leave. It’s almost time for the slide and the Sliders can’t get out of snake world fast enough.
The main female character who had captured the snakes is allowed to leave in a truck. But the snakes aren’t finished with her. As the episode closes we see here lifeless corpse lying on the ground with snakes slithering all over it. Apparently they had attacked her truck and gotten her.
