The Sliders episode was one that I found particularly intriguing because it explored what would have happened had the American Revolution failed. America is the British colony of America in this story.
Prof. Arturo on this world is the share which basically means he is the head governor of the entire west coast of America. Unfortunately the power has gone to his head and corrupted him.
He is plotting the death of Harold the third with the arrow to the throw.
The beauty for Arturo is that once Harold has been assassinated he is the last in his line. That means Arturo would be next in the line of succession and so it’s clear why he is taking this risky course of action. He’s next in line and the ultimate power is worth the risk.
But unfortunately the service plans are foiled when our sliders happen upon this scheme. Prof. Arturo is mistaken for the sheriff and he finds out about the assassination scheme.
He foils the assassination plot.
They get captured by this group of writers which is a revolutionary group. But it turns out these are actually the good guys.
During the Prince’s captivity he comes to see exactly what is going on. He starts to fall in love with Wade and she leads him on tie. So he takes his leave of the place and goes out among the common people to see what is really going on.
And what he finds us balance him. it’s a bit like said heart to go to when he left the palace and saw all the suffering of his people who were so poor.
PCs it’s a cruel and brutal world out there and he no longer wants to be a part of perpetrating it. He never knew just how corrupt the sheriff was and how hellish he was making life for his subjects that he governed. Prince has been blind and in the dark about this.
This captivity opens his eyes and enlightened him to the truth. He decides he wants to be a different man and make changes.
So he teams up with the sliders and listens to them when they start talking to him about how to reshape the world. Quinn has been captured as a revolutionary by the sheriff put the Prof. Arturo has a plan.
Stand up storming a TV station and having Prince Harold go on live TV to rebuke and the rest of the share.
All’s well that ends well as Quinn is free and they are able to slide out in time. The Prince does make a final play for Wade and asks her to stay and be his queen.sheet she seriously considers it but at the end of the day decides to slide on.
And so the adventure continues.

Sliders the free love movement. Oh free love what a bunch of wonderful days.
Of course, I can only imagine because I was not alive during the free love movement during the 60s. Didn’t get to see Woodstock and have only heard about it from my parents.
But this episode of Sliders was a startling and very illuminating glimpse into what the free love movement was all about and what the hippies were doing back in the 60s. Our gang of sliders find themselves on a world where they slide right into a commune with a bunch of hippies.
Of course beforehand when the episode first opens they have slid onto a world that seems to be deserted. Then they hear this announcement over the loudspeakers that “the swarm is coming and is only 10 minutes away.” Prof. Arturo immediately says “Swarm what swarm?”
Whatever swarm it is they know it must be a terrible bad thing. Then they hear on the news show that it’s a hybrid wasp and spider mix that is extremely deadly and that can chew through walls and will eat anything in its path. They say if you’re still in the city and haven’t evacuated your crazy because even being inside buildings won’t help you with them being able to chew through walls.
So even though the sliding timer is on its last legs Quinn is forced to open the portal right then and there even though they were supposed to stay on this world for a few hours. But as Rembrandt says “Anywhere is better than here right now.”
So that’s when they slide into the commune at least Rembrandt and Wade do. The people who find them think they are gods from heaven.
Since the timer was so badly damaged the portal closed before Quinn and Prof. Arturo could get in. But Quinn was able to reopen it just in the nick of time as the spider wasps were bearing down. But as a consequence a few of the spider wasps went into the portal with him and he and Prof. Arturo were dumped in a different place.
Rembrandt and Wade feel that they are stuck on this world and will never find Quinn and Arturo. Of course Quinn and Arturo are thinking the same thing and are only figuring out a way to fix the timer so that they can slide on.
As Quinn points out if you don’t all slide through the same tunnel and since there aren’t infinite number of worlds there is no possible way of sliding back into the same world.
Rembrandt goes exploring and discovers that he has a wife and son. But things are not as they seem once he digs a little bit deeper. He ends up running out of the house with his this reality wife firing a shotgun at him.
The Prof. and Quinn end up being chased by FBI people who think they are subversives. And of course Wade is living it up on the commune.
Quinn just happens to by chance see Rembrandt and ends up chasing him down. He and the professor reunite with Rembrandt.
He drives them over to the commune and the 4 sliders are reunited once again. But the FBI is still hot on their trail and they are forced to slide out right before the FBI takes them captive.
I’ve summed up this episode pretty well and it was fairly exciting but I have to say if you don’t really love the show then you can pass on this episode because there are definitely other episodes more worth watching than this.

This episode begins with Spartacus having haunting memories of his fallen comrade Varo. His one friend in the world has been taken away from him and to make the indignity worse it had to be by his hand that he plunged his sword in deep killing his friend.
Spartacus is now beside himself emotionally and suffers a sword cut during training. The cut becomes infected and he starts running a crazy high fever and they do not believe he will live.
This is incredibly terrible timing because Capua’s main rival which is Pompeii is coming to town. It’s basically like 2 rival college football teams who hate each other like maybe Alabama versus Auburn. It’s like rivalry week the ancient version.
Every year there are huge games between Capua and Pompeii and this year is no exception. Except there is one difference this year and that is the house of Batiatus has secured the Primus which is a great honor. In years past it was always Salonius and his silver tongue and his bribes who had secured the Primus and all of his gladiators had been defeated.
Pompeii has been victorious each year and Batiatus plans to change that this year.
His plans seem to be thwartd as the gods disfavor him and his latest treachery by causing Spartacus to get sick on the eve of the big games. Medicus does not believe he will even be alive to see the games much less to fight in them. He will not take the sand that much is sure.
So who is to replace him?
The trainer Doctore says there is only one who can and his name is Chrixus.
Batiatus remains unconvinced but he doesn’t have any other choice. He has other things on his mind as he has kidnapped the magistrate Calavius and killed all of his guards.
His treachery knows no bounds at this point.
The episode continues on its twisted route and Crixus ends up bringing Capua great honor by defeating Pericles in the Primus. He looked defeated but the heart of the champion came out and he sliced Pericles’ guts out and then stomped on his face as all of Capua cheered his praises. They had booed him only moments before since Spartacus was unable to take the stand. The crowd had wanted Spartacus but now all was forgiven.
Batiatus has a crazy grin on his face as he gloats over the purveyor of the Pompeii gladiator contingent.
And perfectly timed is the news of Calavius gone missing. He offers to take young Numarius out in the search for his father which of course the boy accepts. The mother is reluctant but she decides to allow it when Batiatus says that he will never let the boy out of his sight.
Meanwhile, in the shadows Asher has a secret meeting with Salonius regarding good magistrate Calavius.
He tells Salonius that they can still save Calabius but the time runs short. They come upon Calabius and Salonius tells Asher that he needs to get in here. But Asher says that he has to flee or be crucified and so he leaves.
Of course, Salonius cuts Calavius down but at that moment Batiatus and the boy Numarius come upon them.
It looks as if Salonius has done the dastardly deed killing the magistrate.
This is such a brilliant plan hatched by Batiatus and Asher. In one foul swoop they have taken out the top two enemies that have scorned Batiatus and been a thorn in his side the last few years.
Spartacus also uncovers some timely news from the servant who he believed had protected and fought for his wife when they were attacked. He discovers when the servant tells him that Batiatus was the one who ordered his wife’s death.
The episode ends with Spartacus declaring to Batiatus that he is healthy again and has a devious look in his eye.
We can only guess what is soon to be coming as we rapidly approach the season finale with only two episodes remaining. How will season 1 end? When will the slave uprising led by Spartacus begin?

I’ve been watching Stargate Universe since the first episode but I’ve recently started this blog so I will just pick up with the current episodes. We are now into season two by about two or three episodes.
A lot has happened with many members of the main crew making their way off the ship and then the storyline bringing them back on board. We thought from season 1 that this was impossible because the Destiny (the ship they’re on) jumps into hyperspace on its own timetable. The crewmembers have no control over the ship which is running on autopilot and they are just there along for the ride.
In this episode Rush is the centerpiece. Dr. Rush puts himself up into the chair in an attempt to get the clues and the code they need to actually gain control of the ship and take it off of autopilot.
If you’ve been watching you’ll remember from the first season that this is the same rudimentary version of the information chair Col. O’Neill hooked himself into in the original Stargate series. This is the also the very same chair that one of the scientists on Dr. Rush’s team put himself into in season 1 that drilled holes into his head and caused him to bleed and nearly die.
There have been no updates on the scientist so we are left to assume that he is still in a coma from his traumatic experience.
But Dr. Rush and his current second scientist in command have modified the chair so that the data flow goes slower and it is easier on the mind. It basically transfers the information to Dr. Rush in the form of what the second in command scientist says is a “semi-lucid dream”.
We are given a glimpse of Dr. Rush’s life and his marriage with his wife. He was a professor at Cal Berkeley University.
He starts seeing all these crazy symbols and that’s how he knows that it is all in his mind and a stored memory not real life. But the pain of his wife’s death as she fights cancer is still very real to him.
We see the anguish and the journey he went through. We also see the self-loathing and the seething rage that is boiling beneath the surface. He gives us a glimpse into why he is so prickly and so negative with all of the crewmembers.
He has this self-loathing inside that is almost out of control. He blames himself for working too much while his wife is going through this devastating cancer getting weaker by the day. He can’t shake the feeling that he should have been there more for her instead of burying himself in his work.
It was gut wrenching to see how Dr. Nicholas Rush’s life played out and how things went with his wife.
Meanwhile, Destiny has taken them out of hyperspace for 6 hours onto this planet with some very interesting ruins. No signs of life are present nor any clues on what type of beings or civilization created these ruins. There are also no clues as to how long they have been there but they seem to have been there a long time without being disturbed. Who ever lived there either died or moved on long ago.
But like anything else they are explorers and they decide to go down and explore the ruins. Curiosity gets the better of them and they go down into one of the tunnels and get trapped because of a giant nasty spider. Despite best efforts they cannot be extracted back to Destiny in time and the ship with all its crew is forced to move on.
With about 3 minutes left in the episode Dr. Rush voluntarily comes out of his semi-lucid dream but is unable to stop the ship. We are left with the cliffhanger which has four of our main characters including one of the young hotties caught trapped in the collapsed tunnel. The entrance is blocked. But the ship has jumped back into hyperspace.
So what will happen? Dr. Rush says he has found a clue but will they be able to gain control of the ship in time?
Leave your comments and theories below because they’re definitely doing a good job with this series and its storyline.

This episode was titled “Whore” and that basically says it all. There were lots of twists and turns but we get a glimpse into what life was like for Roman women.
Especially the upper echelon and upper class citizenry of Roman women.
Oftentimes these were the daughters of Senators or other important Romans. And they were married off in arranged marriages to men who were many times 20 or 30 years older than them.
This created a gap in the overall desires of the two parties but the women were still supposed to be faithful because this was a patriarchal society. In fact they could be killed for going outside of the marriage. It was very risky to do this.
Loudouses (training centers for gladiators) out there had lots of gladiators which were highly desired by high-class women who would pay a very high price to sleep with them.
Lychenia, who is the cousin of marcus Crassus, wants to be with Spartacus. Alythia, her friend, finds out about this and wants to have her own gladiator because she has been having the same thoughts.
So this gets very intriguing as the whole one-upsmanship escalates. And one thing about these two friends is they like to upstage one another and socially humiliate one another.
But the matriarch of the house of Batiatus is named Lucretia and she has been having some friction with Alythia. So she sets up Alythia with the arch enemy of Alythia’s husband Claudius Glaber. This arch enemy is of course Spartacus. Then Lucretia times it so Lychenia will walk in on Alythia and Spartacus going at it.
Of course this treachery is discovered and Lychenia begins laughing uncontrollably.
This pushes Alythia over the edge and she sets herself upon Lychenia slamming her head into the marble floor. Before her white-hot rage leaves she has decimated and killed Lychenia brutally.
But the tale of her treachery of being with Spartacus is kept secret. But this secret is not without its cost as she is now being leveraged by Lucretia and the house of Batiatus.
We can see the resentment and anger seething and growing inside of Alythia as she is forced to do ever more indignant things in service to Lucretia for keeping this secret.
Some ominous looks were exchanged toward the end of the episode and we definitely know that bad things are coming down the pike between Lucretia and Alythia.
This is a very exciting and treacherous episode leave any comments you have below.

Merlin is a show that I’ve recently gotten into which highlights the early part of the adventure that Merlin and King Arthur shared.
On tonight’s episode the lady Morgana who is currently the ward and trusted and beloved child of Arthur’s father King Uther has set out on a journey. She is going to visit her father’s grave.
Of course, they set out on a path which is basically a little road surrounded by woods on all sides and you can just get the sense that the inevitable ambush is coming. This is due to Morgana being someone Uther highly values and so capturing her would obviously be of great value to whoever held her.
King Uther is quite fond of her and also quite wealthy so would definitely pay to get her back.
The bad guys know this and their ambush works. There are many losses on both sides but they capture both the lady Morgana and her servant Guenevere.
Their capture is short-lived though through a clever ruse lady Morgana concocts when she says that she wants to bathe. She has hatched a scheme with Guenevere where they will escape. When the time comes Morgana makes her escape but Guenevere twists her ankle and she is left behind.
The mercenary captors take Guenevere and masquerade her as the lady Morgana to their master. Their master of course wants to ransom the lady Morgana back to King Uther for a large sum of money.
The lady Morgana makes her way back to Camelot and tells this tale to King Uther. She demands and then begs that he send a rescue party but he says that it’s a heavily fortified castle. “How many men should I risk to save your maid?” he asks.
This leaves the lady Morgana distraught but King Uther’s son Arthur is quite in love with Guenevere and is set on mounting a rescue. He takes his trusty servant Merlin and they’re off onto the trail.
Lancelot enters as a sword fighter into the mercenaries lair not knowing that Guinevere is there. They had met earlier and a spark of love blossomed between the two of them. Destiny has now brought them back together.
We are anxious to see what happens and they’re these giant rat like creatures that make an appearance and make things interesting. This episode had cage fighting, the giant rats, and of course adventures on horseback with a daring rescue. Arthur and Merlin even scaled the castle wall.
All in all an episode you should take a look at if you like fantasy and magic because it is quite captivating.
