The Paradise lost episode. The title should tell you all you need to know about this episode. It’s not actually a place of paradise like a paradise island or a beach or something. Paradise is the name of the town. It’s not a terrible place either it’s just nice.
This seems like a nice quaint little town. It’s almost like a town that is from the 50s or 60s has been transplanted into the 1990s. It’s very small and everybody seems nice to the point of being nauseating. But they’re very tightlipped and don’t give up any information either. So it’s a fake sort of nice.
We first see this guy out in the woods in a tent and he’s made some startling discovery. He calls up his partner to tell her of his info and that she has to see this data. Then there are these three guys who come and grab him and dump him down into this pit that’s on the beach. Then this crazy thing like something out of the movie Tremors starts moving the ground and grabs this guy sucking him under the sand.
We later find out it is a crazy wormlike being that has mutated because this town was located on a uranium mine. It’s never said whether there was some sort of accident or some sort a uranium spill that caused this worm to mutate. But it is absolutely massive. And it feeds on human flesh of course.
The one saving grace and reason this town doesn’t annihilate this creature is because when it feeds on human flesh it leaves behind this goo that is kind of like an oil slick. Only the oil is something that’s consumed by these townspeople which keeps them forever young until the day they die.
It doesn’t give them immortality. It may have a slight effect on keeping them healthier for longer. But they still die pretty close to the regular time they would have died. But instead of looking like a 90-year-old man they stay looking like whatever age they were when they started consuming what they call “the gift”.
It basically retards the aging process of your physical body but apparently not your internal body. So from the outside you look like whatever age you start eating this oil slick gel. But you have to keep consuming it otherwise the effects wear off.
The whole town is in on this gig.
When the Sliders first arrive they see one of the townspeople is about to hit this woman over the head as she is changing a tire. Quinn asks him what he’s doing and it stops in his tracks and he walks away. She now joins with them as the five outsiders who go into town.
Wade finds out just how sinister this is when she sees all the townspeople going into this one building late at night. They’re all moving very secretively and they close the door behind them saying that business is closed. She of course is curious and has to go in.
Obviously, you can tell from the foreshadowing that she is going to get caught after she stumbles onto information she is not supposed to have.
Sure enough, one of the townspeople catches her and says, “you weren’t supposed to see this”.
It’s basically a ceremony where they worship this worm and they all get a dose of the oil jelly to eat.
They feed the professor to the creature and the Sliders start to get suspicious when they haven’t heard from the professor. Rembrandt notices that three people have disappeared over the last two days and he tells the sheriff if he’s not going to do anything about it then maybe the state police will. At this point the sheriff knocks him over the back of the head.
They intend to feed all the Sliders to the worm.
But the Sliders intend to kill the worm and so they take explosives and gasoline into the creature’s lair. They set the dynamite charges and find that there is a brood of these creatures because the original creature is pregnant and has given birth to lots of eggs.
The professor tells Quinn they have to destroy this thing and so they set the charges and they get out of there. There’s a big explosion and the creature is killed.
They never show what happened to the town but we can only assume that they age rapidly and probably died soon after. Quinn invites their new ally to slide with them but she says she enjoys exploring this world too much to leave. So they’re off once again just the four of them.

This is a very interesting Chuck. In the last episode Shaw’s overwhelming desire for revenge was too much for him. He went after Sarah intending to kill her only Chuck stopped him. He put two shots into Shaw’s chest.
Shaw went over the edge and down into the river.
So now Chuck and Sarah are over in France and they are forced to make a decision as to whether they want to continue being spies.
The other person thinks they want to quit being spies and just go on the run.
While they’re on a train ignoring general Beckman’s calls Chuck flashes. And Sarah sees these guys carrying guns underneath their coats so she knows something is up as well. It turns out to be an international terrorist.
Chuck and Sarah get back to their rooms and neither of them know the other one noticed.
They have agreed they weren’t going to do any more spy stuff anymore. Having an international terrorist right there on the train for them is a sign and so they both decide to do one last mission. But we all know it won’t be the last mission.
Sarah’s been a spy her whole adult life and Chuck loves the action too much. They both love the drama and the adrenaline rush.
Unfortunately, they don’t have all the information for this operation.
They proceed thinking they’re going to take down the terrorists and drug the water so that the two associates he has with him get knocked out. These turn out to be Interpol agents. The terrorist has been working with Interpol because he was tired of being on the run and is giving critical information to catch other active members of the terrorist network.
Chuck and Sarah didn’t know this and so I put him in greater harm. He was on his way to witness protection.
Casey and Morgan end up finding out where they are. So they work with Gen. Beckmann to bring to more Interpol agents in to get the terrorist back into custody and towards witness protection.
The plan goes awry because there were dark forces on the train who are part of the terrorist group. They were here to find out as much information about what the traitor had told Interpol and then they were to eliminate him.
Casey and Morgan are still with the terrorist waiting on the Interpol agents to arrive. Two of them arrive and Morgan starts talking with them a little bit. He asks about certain landmark and one of the agents talks to him with information that is inconsistent about the landmarks so Morgan knows something is wrong. Casey also knows and draws his gun.
But there are too many of the evil terrorist cohorts to take down. It looks pretty grim and bleak for Morgan and John Casey. But Chuck and Sarah aren’t finished yet. They get taken in handcuffs by the two Interpol agents they drugged earlier.
They know something is up with Morgan and Casey being in danger so they break free and get on this moped. They drive the moped through the glass of the restaurant and get in a big huge fight with the terrorist group. With the help of Morgan and Casey they take down the group and get the terrorist informant back in the hands of Interpol.
They go back to Burbank and attempt to explain the situation to Gen. Beckmann.
She’s not buying the reason for their being AWOL. She does accept them back so the show goes on.

This episode starts out with our Sliders as immigrants looking for day labor. Apparently Mexico is the dominant force in the Western Hemisphere and controls the entire United States. White people are only from Canada in this place.
It’s a strange and unusual world and the immigration police come for them as they are looking for some work.
All of the day laborers scatter but Quinn is the only one of the four Sliders who gets away. The other three are captured and put onto a deportation trial. They get this lawyer who basically does nothing for them and they are ordered to be deported to Canada in the morning. They’re obviously worried about missing the slide and don’t want to spend the rest of their lives in Canada.
Quinn was running away and happens to run into the love of his life from his world. This woman on this world obviously knows nothing about him but has compassion on him. She and her brother wish to get her fiancé out and will help Quinn because it also helps themselves.
They do a raid on the deportation truck and stop it in the Nick of time. The Sliders are back together and they slide out of that world.
The next world they come into they only have about seven hours on and Quinn is feeling pretty down. Rembrandt suggests that he contact this girl to see what she’s up to. In this world Quinn was the one who moved away in 10th grade and she was the one whose heart was broken.
They have a moment together but then her husband comes in and the little girl baby starts to cry.
Quinn realizes he cannot take her on the sliding journey with him. But what he does do is call Seattle because in this world Quinn was the one who moved away. He talks to this Quinn and gets the address so that he can put the two of them together.
Then they slide off onto the next world and find themselves in jail. They have no idea how they got there nor what they are charged with.
Come to find out they have been somewhat displaced. For them time is moving forward but for the rest of the people in this world time is moving backwards. Or vice versa.
From the perspective of the people in this world time is moving normally. For the Sliders it is on the completely opposite track. They think the timer has gone haywire but once they figure it out they realize that when it’s time for the slide the vortex will open.
They were on trial for the murder of Quinn’s girl who is a cop on this world. But since for them time is moving back Quinn is able to stop the murder from happening. This rips a hole in the fabric of time and the professor says, “You changed time and we don’t know what will happen”.
The sky seems to rip open right as the vortex opens for them. We don’t know what happens to this world as our Sliders are sucked in and off onto their next adventure.

Another action-packed thrill ride on this week’s episode of Lost. We can clearly tell we’re coming down to the series finale because there was no single character featured on this episode.
It was a smorgasbord with small glimpses of each of the main characters in the episode as well as how their lives would’ve been had they never been on the island.
The John Locke camp and Jack Sheppard and Hugo with their small group have now joined at the beginning of this episode. Charles Whidmore and his crew send out their number 2 as an emissary to John Locke demanding that he return Desmond to them.
So my suspicion that Locke threw him down the well and killed him was incorrect. He sends Sayid out to the well to murder Desmond Hume in cold blood. But Desmond starts talking to Sayid and asking him why he is doing this and what he will tell the woman he loves he had to do in order to be with her again.
This gives Sayid pause and I don’t believe he has killed Desmond. John Locke finds him in the jungle and questions him about whether he pulled the trigger and he says that he did. He even invites Locke to go check to see whether the deed has been done.
John Locke is moving his camp over toward the auxiliary island so that they can get on the plane as they are now all together and can all get off of the island together.
Sawyer has other plans because he doesn’t trust Locke and does trust Charles Whidmore instead.
Sawyer steals the boat that Locke was going to use and takes over only Jack, Kate, Hugo, Lapidus the pilot, and Sun. But Claire ends up following their small group and holds a gun on them so Kate invites her to come along much to Sawyer’s dismay.
Sawyer had told Kate earlier in the episode that Claire has been on the dark side for a long time and that Sayid was nothing more than a zombie who has recently gone over to the dark side so neither of them is invited on this trip.
While on the boat sailing to the smaller island Jack has a crisis of confidence and starts asking himself questions about whether they should be off the island. He asks Sawyer point blank if the John Locke character is so desiring of all of them leaving the island together what if he’s afraid of what will happen should they stay?
There is much intrigue and Jack ends up jumping off the boat because Sawyer demands he get off. Sawyer says it’s time to make a decision “you’re either with us or against us”.
So Jack decides he is going to be against them and leaps out.
Sawyer and his crew make it over to the smaller islands and meet up with Whidmore’s people. But Charles has betrayed them. Right before the betrayal Sun and Jin are finally reunited.
We can definitely tell that the John Locke character is pissed and we’re only left to wonder exactly how he’s going to deal with this treachery and what’s going to happen when the final battle between the supposed good guy Charles Whidmore and the suspected bad guy the Black smoke John Locke character finally lock horns in the final battle.

This is the exciting new start of Royal Pains season 2. If you haven’t been watching this show then I highly recommend you get involved now. You can see many of the episodes on hulu if you need to get caught up.
The basic premise of the show is a very good doctor named Hank Lawson had a good job and made a bad decision to save the life of a kid off the streets instead of a hospital board member billionaire. He thought the billionaire was stable and was going to be fine but unfortunately he took a turn for the worse dying.
The hospital was obviously extremely upset with this decision and Hank got fired for it.
The unfortunate chain of events that unfolded has Hank ending up staying with a German multimillionaire possibly even a billionaire. The guys name is Boris. Hank happens to be at his party one night when a guest falls ill. The doctor Boris had was doing something that was going to kill the patient when Hank steps in to stop it.
Boris was impressed with how Hank handled the situation and invites him to stay in the guest house. Of course he has to kick out the current Dr. who was staying.
So began Hank’s journey.
He was just out there on vacation but ended up falling into what’s called a concierge doctor.
Basically you can think of it like “the old days where the doctor would come to you and bring all of his medical supplies with him.” This is in stark contrast to today when we have to go to the hospital where the doctors are.
Obviously, if you’re very wealthy like many of the people who live or stay in the Hamptons the privacy of a concierge doctor is highly desired.
At the end of last season Hank’s brother Evan Lawson who is also the chief financial officer of Hankmed which is their company had gotten them in trouble. He trusted their swindling father who ended up taking all their money.
They are now in a major cash crunch and what this episode is all about.
A far bigger problem for Evan who really looks up to his older brother Hank is that he has broken Hank’s trust.
Divvya is their very capable Indian physician assistant. At the end of last season she was scheduled to move forward on a marriage arranged by her parents. She was having serious doubts which she expressed to Evan even though she has a general dislike for him.
They had come to an understanding that she was going to break off the engagement but we learn in this episode that she did not. She explains her reasoning that sometimes you have to give up one dream for a bigger dream. Her bigger dream was maintaining her family which is the most important thing to her.
And she shines a reflective light on Evan saying that Hank is far more important to him than his father and first he must repair the brotherly bond before he can repair the company’s finances.
Jill who works at the Hamptons Heritage hospital was dating Hank for quite a while in season 1. They got very close.
She is now under extreme duress as this season starts out.
Hank is the second doctor that she has become romantically involved with. This causes the other doctors at the hospital and the hospital’s board members to question where her loyalties lie. They wonder if she can keep business and personal separate.
The hospital has become understaffed and the head surgeon is upset with having to perform duties that she deems beneath her skill set.
We are strongly led to believe that she has been relieved of her duties.
Hank ends up dealing with this spastic patient. He’s an infomercial guy whose father has just died and gets into a whole ton of mishaps and misadventures during this episode. One almost takes out his life.
Boris is having continued struggles with a congenital defect disease that was revealed last season. It has killed all of his male ancestors when they are in their 40s.
Boris is definitely at this stage and can see the finish line.
Hank definitely wants to help him but doesn’t really know what he’s dealing with because there is no cure. Details of the disease are sketchy at best. There’s no research being done.
Evan does a couple cool things in an attempt to dig himself out of the doghouse. There’s a big finish to this episode and definitely a rousing action-packed start to what should be an outstanding sophomore season of this well-written show.
You should get into this show. What else are you going to do in the hottest parts of the summer months?

This episode of Sliders starts out with them sitting outdoors in the front of this little café. Maggie is drinking a pork soda and eating a giraffe burger. That’s right as crazy as those things sound this is somewhat of “exotic world”.
Diana and Mallory make a nasty face at what Maggie is eating. They ask her why she’s eating these seemingly horrible things and she says “Soon all you’ll have is the expected. I wanted to take one more chance to have the unexpected.”
At the end of the last episode before they left Dr. Geiger handed Diana a disc. They have the coordinates to their home worlds now.
So even though the good doctor was evil and really cared only about himself at the end of his days he decided to do something selfless to help. We don’t know if it was an atonement hoping he would get better treatment when he faces judgment day or if he just wanted to make up for the things he did in his life.
The Sliders get together and make what they believe will be the final slide back to Rembrandt’s home world.
He’s a little bit shaken up because he thought he would have some sort of idea or weapon to defeat the Kromaggs. He tells them his world is going to be no picnic because of the Kromagg occupation but they all agree to go with him anyway.
They end up sliding into this church type building.
There’s a massive throng of fans waiting outside for them welcoming the Sliders. This is quite odd because this world seems to know exactly who they are.
They soon discover on this world there is this old man that people call “the Seer”. He had congestive heart failure and during one of his heart attacks had somehow become connected with the multi-verse. He could see lots of things in other dimensions as if they were real. They were the most vivid visions he’d ever experienced.
At a certain point he realized that they were real. Not so much real on his earth but they were actually occurring in other dimensions.
So he started writing about and creating paintings of them. He knew all about them as well as the Prof. and Wade.
He knew Quinn and Colin and seemed to know them going back to the first time they started the sliding.
The Sliders were quite surprised and couldn’t really believe this at first glance. But all the paintings of worlds they had been to and his writings convinced them so they had no choice but to see the truth. He then gives them sobering news that unless they stay on this world the next slide they do will kill them.
So they have one final problem and decision to make.
They end up meeting Quinn’s mom. This is his real mom from Quinn and Rembrandt’s home world. At least Quinn’s home world that he grew up on when his parents dropped him off there with the Mrs. Mallory double. Mallory doesn’t take to her at first but then has a moment alone with her where he admits that her Quinn is still inside him. He feels connected to her though this other Quinn.
The Sliders make the decision that they are going to move on to Rembrandt’s home world anyway and take the chance. They discover this world developed a virus that attacks the Kromaggs and it lives in the blood of all humans on this world. They get a vial of the blood to take back.
The one warning the guy gives Rembrandt is that the virus has to be synthesized within two days.
They find there’s this secret cache of Kromagg technology that the seer’s daughter Claire has kept. There’s a vortex blocker which they turn off. There’s also a sliding device that they can use.
Claire and her goons come into stop the Sliders because she wants to capitalize and profit off of their presence there. But the seer comes in and they end up overpowering begins. She already had her goons bust the Sliders timer and this was the last straw.
They put Claire and her goons in a holding cell. The seer is having a heart attack.
Diana opens the vortex with a warning. The power is so low she believes that it’s going to collapse. She says that there’s maybe only enough power for 1 of them to go through.
As the three of them are arguing Mallory says it should be him. But then they look back and see that Rembrandt has already injected himself with the vial of the blood.
“Here comes typhoid Remy” Rembrandt says. He jumps through the vortex right before it collapses.
It’s a fitting end to the show but there is some mystery left over. This seer has succumbed to his heart attack. Despite Diana’s pleading he doesn’t respond. So they don’t know what has become of Rembrandt.
As the camera pans out Mallory asks the question, “So what do we do now”.
It’s a very appropriate question that fans who watched the show live 11 years ago had to be asking themselves. And now I’ve gone through the full series here over the last few weeks and it’s a question I’m also asking myself.
